Top 5 Winners from #AMUG2017 Chess Tournament

The dust has finally settled from #AMUG2017 in Chicago, and what a conference it was.

From an exceptional line-up of keynote speakers, to amazing innovations, the conference was the prime spot to get the most exclusive information on everything Additive Manufacturing (AM).

3D Platform (3DP) took part in three presentations:

  1. Balancing Speed, Quality & Cost
  2. Addressing 10x Print Time Reduction
  3. Fused Filament Masters for Castings & Molds

The top 5 winners of the #AMUG2017 chess tournament include (from left to right) Mike Robinson, Kristian Olivero, Rajan Hollmann, Venkata K. Nadimpalli, and Ofer Shochet.

And, hosted a giant speed chess tournament with Ultimaker. The tournament had a great turn out, with the top 5 winners receiving some great prizes:

  1. Ofer Shochet, Ph.D., Board of Directors Member at Velo3D won the grand prize Ultimaker 2+ printer.
  2. -Ing. Rajan Hollmann from BASF came in second and won a Dremel Pro toolkit for post finishing processes.
  3. Kristian Olivero, or as he like to be called, Darth Vader, finished 3rd and won a classic chess set.
  4. Mike Robinson ended the tournament in 4th place winning a classic chess set.
  5. Industrial engineering student from the University of Louisville, Venkata K. Nadimpalli closed the night with a 5th place finish and won a custom 3D printed king chess piece from 3DP.

3D Platform’s giant chess board was displayed during #AMUG2017 to showcase the different printing capabilities of the Workbench.

Other highlights from the show include:

  1. Jason Lopes from Legacy Effects announced his move to CIDEAS.
  2. AMUG announce 2017 recipients of student and teacher scholarships.
  3. The Museum of Science and Industry was the secret location for Tuesday night awards banquet.
  4. Stacey DelVecchio, AM Prod Mgr at Caterpillar, discussed AM innovation at the company.
